I recently met a couple who seemed to have it all. They had a nicely decorated home. They had a cute car. They had good jobs.
But everything seemed so devoid of personality. It seemed so calm, detached, and clinical. It was almost as if it was all a show, to show the world that everything was okay.
Later, when I asked him how he coped with his stressful job, he told me,
Just think of it as a job. It’s just 8 hours. After that you can do what you want.
I walked away from that interaction feeling like I had walked in a very nice garden… but it was devoid of life. It seemed filled with fake flowers. It reminded me of the game that we used to play when we were kids, pretending to be adults,
working, cooking and dressing up. Except that this time, we were already adults, and it still seemed that we were play-pretending.
They had everything that the world said was good to have - a car, a house, a job, but it seemed like they had nothing that truly expressed their personality.
Their individuality. Their uniqueness. Their life.
Do you find yourself chasing the things the world values, but which doesn’t mean much to you? Do you find yourself unexcited by the prospect of a promotion, accompanied with more work? Do you find yourself feeling just ‘meh’ about this whole life
thing?
Regaining your individuality and stamping your mark on life is about reconnecting with your creator heart. You and I long to create, birth, and bring something to life. Drawing. Writing. Dance. Speaking.
We bring unformed ideas into reality through expression.
We bring what can be into what is. And that gives us life.
It differentiates us from machine. And it turns your life from a plain canvas, to one with splashes and splotches of color.

These personal projects for better or worse, are shaped in part by both our biological traits and our social contexts.
But they transcend each.
Because unlike nature and nurture, they are one feature of human life that is not given to us by heredity or society but is generated from within.
Brian Little, ‘Who are you, really?’

Build something today. It can be something small like a drawing. Or an article. But build something to show someone. This way, the life you nurture through your creation gives life to someone else.
Life generates new life.
P.S. Is life really 'meh' for you? It doesn't have to be. Let's chat.
