‘Seeking to spark the most potential within you per word of any online newsletter’

I was rejected from another interview recently. Immediately I wondered why people wouldn’t give me a second chance. Sure, I had made mistakes in my previous job, but didn’t we all make mistakes? It was tempting for me to give up, and to stop pursuing the opportunity. But I thought,
Maybe before asking others to give me a second chance, I had to give myself a second chance.
So I went up to ask for another chat to understand why they had rejected me.
How often do you ask for feedback following a negative outcome? Maybe you say,
It’s over. What’s the point of asking for more feedback?
But asking for feedback isn’t only about getting better. It’s actually giving others the chance, to give you a second chance.
There have been several times in my life where the mere act of asking for feedback has prompted others to offer me something else - like the time when I asked for feedback on a (failed) exam, and the examiner gave me a higher grade. Or the time when I asked for feedback on an interview rejection, and they referred me to another position.
Give yourself a second chance before expecting others to give you a second chance.
You do that by believing that you have more to offer, that you can take on feedback, and grow from it.

Feedback isn't just for you.
It forces the other party to think harder about why they actually gave you an outcome you did not want.
Then maybe they realise they made a mistake.

Asking for feedback isn’t about getting feedback for feedback’s sake. But it’s about acting on the feedback offered. Why not take today to write down the character flaws or weaknesses others have said about you, and to see if you’ve moved from them over the past year?
Plot them on a simple line graph. If ‘0’ were you with these weaknesses (list them out), what would ‘5’ look like? What would a ’10’ look like?
P.S. Want to improve from the feedback you've been given recently? Let's talk through it (at no fee!)
