Being unambitious, is okay.
I say it again. Because this is very important.
Being unambitious, is okay.
Today, it’s cool to be a founder. Entrepreneur. To run a side hustle. To do your own thing. You see people doing it on Instagram, sharing their latest project on LinkedIn, and you think,
I’ve got to do that too!
No you don’t.
You absolutely don’t.
Because if you really wanted something to work, however small that project is, you would need to do a lot.
We tend to underestimate just how much time, effort, and energy is needed to make something happen.
Yes, you know what I’m talking about. That project to clear out your attic. Or your storeroom. Or to even paint the walls.
Life is hard enough without more projects to add in.
Besides, what you're doing already matters. If you're a mum, taking care
of kids, that matters. A father just putting food on the table? Matters too. A single person just trying to get by?
That's huge.
Nothing is too small.
Why do more to yourself?
Maybe it’s because we see others doing so much with their lives, and we want some of that. No you don’t. Those founders on LinkedIn aren’t telling you the nights spent waking up at midnight, trying to figure out how to pay their people.
So I will.
So you don’t get started with the wrong expectations, thinking that
‘starting something’ is just that. Starting.
I don’t sleep
well. 4 out of 7 days, I wake up at 2am. It’s not any particular thing that concerns me, and I don’t go into overdrive. But I just wake up.
There are no hard stops to my day, even though I’ve advised that. When I’m having a workout and I think about something, even at 10pm, I would message the necessary person.
And doing business doesn’t mean you don’t get burnt in business.
Recently we had a potential business partner that we did many things
for, and then upped, and left, because she felt we had not respected certain aspects of her work.
You lose sleep. You lose friends. You lose your health.
You still want to do it?
That’s why I tell you, living a nice life with a good family, with a comfortable job, sometimes isn’t a bad thing.
It’s really what you want with life.

Sometimes, just getting through life, is completely okay.

Want to stop comparing?
Try going for a walk tonight without your phone.
You will realise just how much headspace and clarity that gives you.
