‘Seeking to spark the most potential within you per word of any online newsletter’

The start of the year is often a time when we reset our goals,
look at the mistakes we made in the previous year, and resolve to avoid in the coming year.
Having done New Year Resolutions for the past 16 years, since I was a pimply 13 year old young boy, I’ve come to learn one strange thing about new year resolutions.
The fewer you set, the closer you get.
We sometimes fall into the trap of thinking that more goals are better. After all, if you go for your corporate retreat, you would likely have seen your boss talk about the 6 objectives for the business.
But for your own life, I urge you to have just one.
Last year, I set one goal.
I
resolved to earn $100k from our business.
We didn’t hit the goal, but that one single goal focused all of our actions.
There were many days when I woke up and thought,
what am I going to do today?
It was easy to just jump into busy work like
answering emails, replying WhatsApp messages, and trying to chase the next business idea, rather than do work that moved us closer to the ultimate goal.
This year, what is the one most important goal you have?
I would love to hear about it. Just hit reply, and we can keep each other accountable :)

Set one goal this year.
1 tip
It’s not the setting of the goal, but the review of it that truly matters.
Simply spending 5 minutes on Sunday evening, at 930pm, looking at
- What did you do to move closer to your goal that you were proud of?
- What moved you away from your goal that you would like to adjust?
That can keep you on track with your goals, rather than just setting your goals, and forgetting about them.
I will close with this
story.
In 2022, I was lost. I was doing random bits of work like
- IT support - helping to support Zoom trainings, sending the files over the chat, replying queries learners had
- Training students
- Writing articles
- Starting online courses in fitness (yes I know - don’t get me started on how much I wanted a six-pack, though the only pack I landed up with was a family pack)
My coworker Jason
My coworker Jason, at that time pointed out that I was getting pulled in many different directions, with no clear idea of where I was
going.
He suggested that I just focus on the core skill of content marketing.
And with that, we turned around the business.
Focusing can seem boring. In fact, it is, especially when you see everyone else doing fancier things on social media. They might be at a conference, traveling, having
drinks with their colleagues, and you’re stuck in front of the computer, doing the one thing.
This year, my encouragement to you is to do that one thing.
Nothing else.
You will be surprised at what you find.
