‘Seeking to spark the most potential within you per word of any online newsletter’

Since young, we’ve been told that to get anywhere in life, we have to be all-rounded. We have to focus on building up our weaknesses. We must be good in every area.
I say that’s bull.
Firstly, we are not perfect. That means that we can’t possibly be good at everything. There are bound to be some things that we aren’t good at. Here’s an analogy. If you were a bird, would I ask you to be good at swimming too?
Secondly, being all-rounded distracts our attention from being world-class at the unique skills that we have. When we try to be good at everything, we end up losing time developing the skills that we are already good at. We lose the chance to amplify our
skills.
Lastly, the one habit of successful people is focus. Absolute focus. Bill Gates didn’t try becoming a great investor too. Warren Buffett didn’t try coding computers. Jeff Bezos didn’t try racing for the Olympics.
Rather than trying to focus on being all-rounded today, look at the skills you have. Those that come naturally to you. Those that you have an edge over everyone else.
Amplify them. Compound them. Make them world-class through focus.

“The best parts of this world were not fashioned by those who were realistic.” They were fashioned by those who dared to look hard at their wishes and then gave them horses to ride.”
Richard Bolles, What Color Is Your Parachute?

There’s a time in our life where all of us go through a crisis. You end up asking questions such as: why am I here on earth? What is the purpose of my life? Is there any meaning to what I’m doing?
Those are difficult questions. Often, they are prompted by tough times, when the assumptions you had were torn apart. By a harsh criticism, or a failure, or both.
When you face questions like these, you might be lost at the magnitude of those questions. How can I figure out the answers?
Try this. Borrow the book ‘What Colour is Your Parachute’, by Richard Bolles. Bolles worked with thousands of professionals who faced similar questions to you. He codified his method within the book. For me, the flower exercise he introduced continues to anchor me in times
of uncertainty.
Pss... I'm counting on you. Helping others isn't easy. I need your help.
