‘Seeking to spark your greatest potential with every word’

You probably have had that experience of working for some time. You find yourself achieving quite a lot. But you find it difficult to approach your boss and say, ‘Sorry, can I have a higher pay?’
In this difficult economy, is it possible to ask for a higher pay? The answer is ‘yes, if you can demonstrate the value you can leave behind.’
Too often, you might think of yourselves as bringing a certain value to the organisation. But it’s not. Beyond bringing value, you are leaving value behind. It’s not the value you bring, but the value you leave
behind.
If, as a result of your work, a client decides not to take her own life, you haven’t simply brought life to the hopeless. You have helped her to continue living her life for the good of the world.
Therefore, start asking yourself, in the organisations I have been at, what have been the lasting and enduring legacies I’ve left behind?

If you are asking for a new job, add $500 to the number you’ve asked for.
This prevents you from undervaluing the value you will bring to the company.
If you are negotiating a new pay at your current organisation, make a list of the initiatives you’ve brought about. Talk about the impact it is leaving in the lives of the participants.
