How to have fun at work (even if it’s at home)

Let me guess.
You’re not having much fun working from home.
You’re away from your goofy colleague. Or you miss the gossip session at the pantry. Or you miss sharing with your colleagues about the difficulties you are having at work.
How do you have more fun working from home?
Identify what used to be fun when you worked in the office. See if you can replicate that even as you work from home.
For example, you might have enjoyed random chats with your colleagues. What is stopping you from giving a call to your colleague and asking how he is?
Secondly, make work a game. Yes, I know work is serious.
But it doesn’t need to be that serious. Each time I finish a task, I put a paper clip in a small bowl. This gives me a visual representation of what I’ve done throughout the day. It also means that when there are 5, I get to treat myself to something I love!
Like a short walk. Or a nice song. Or a nice meal.
Make work fun.
Life’s too short to hate work.

Ask yourself: what are the areas of work I really love? How can I do more of that, and less of the things that I don’t like?
For example, I hate paperwork. To do less of it, I’ve started to batch them up. Each week, I set aside one day where I clear the paperwork. That helps me stay sane.
How about you? What can you do to do more of the things you love, and less of the things you don’t?
Think others might benefit? I’m counting on you.
